Course Update – Friday 19th September

The course has recovered well from all the wet weather. This weekend, we will remove preferred lies from the “General Area” and only have it on the “Mown Portion” (Fairways and Green surrounds). We will also remove the local rule, which entitled you to obtain relief from water-damaged areas that were not marked with white paint. Moving forward, relief can only be taken if the area is marked with white paint. All bunkers are back in play.

The Norfolk Island Hibiscus trees on the 1st and 11th holes have been removed. This area will be marked as GUR until the wetland work is completed. A few members have questioned why we are removing the trees. The first reason is for safety on both the 1st and 11th as golfers are not able to see others when hitting an errant shot. The second reason was to improve the view and enhance the wetland on the 1st and 11th holes. We will also clean up the island and create a bird habitat by installing bird boxes. Thirdly, Norfolk Island Hibiscus trees are also on the Council’s “noxious tree list” and removal is encouraged. No permits are required to remove these trees.

Webcam Update

As you may be aware, the webcams have been off line for the past week or so. We are currently working with MiClub to rectify the issue, but so far, we have not had any luck. Apologies for the delay.

Club Championships and Golf-Connect

Next week will see the qualifying for the Women’s and Men’s Club Championships. As advised in the Club E-news, Golf Australia will be changing to a new platform called “Golf-Connect”. This means there will be no handicapping for competitions from Thursday 25th September, until mid-October. On Wednesday for women and Thursday for men, all members’ handicaps will be frozen. If you intend to qualify for the Club Championships, whichever grade you are in on the first round, you will remain in for the entire Championship. The Club will print off a full list of both GA and Daily handicaps and leave copies in the Proshop and locker rooms.
