Dear Members,
As we approach the end of a successful membership year, it’s time to confirm the subscription
rates for 2025-26.
It’s been a strong year with excellent course use, optimal membership levels, and great
momentum in our new clubhouse. Most core membership categories are full or nearly full, and
we have seen a strong increase in social memberships.
As highlighted in our recent financial update, we’re tracking well against budget, though the
recent wet weather reminded us of last year’s negative impact from May-July rain. Assuming a
positive end to the year, we are progressing with several projects.
Course & Clubhouse Updates
Our course continues to look excellent thanks to Nick and the Greens team. The recent sand
exchange trial was successful, and we’ll now replace sand in the 17 bunkers with capillary
drainage, with the sand removed added to the remaining bunkers. Drainage work for holes 5 and
10 is also planned and both projects will be completed before year-end.
The clubhouse, now 10 months old, continues to evolve. Feedback from the member surveys has
helped shape planned improvements. Soon, we will enclose the covered outdoor area and add
heating for winter use, and we’re exploring shading/heating solutions for the deck. Acoustic
improvements are also under review.
We are pleased to announce that we have signed an extended multi-year deal with the
Waterview Cafe, which has established a good reputation for excellent food and service. They
have committed to regular menu enhancements and innovative new offerings.
Strategic Plan & Capital Works
Our 5-year strategic plan (available on our website) outlines ongoing course improvements bunkers, drainage, equipment replacement, and tree/wetland enhancements. Planned
clubhouse upgrades include the above-mentioned comfort features and necessary roof works.
Carpark upgrades are also on the agenda, though still in early planning stages. We’re also
reviewing IT systems to support growing operational needs.
Budget Considerations & Subscription Review
In preparing next year’s budget, we’ve taken account of next year’s capital needs together with
significant cost increases across course and clubhouse operations-fertilisers, chemicals, sand,
energy, insurance, equipment leases, and more. Rising interest rates have also impacted our
loan costs, though we’re hopeful of some relief if rates decline.
Given all factors, the Board has approved a 7% increase in subscriptions across all categories,
effective 1st August 2025. This equates to:
– $250 increase for 7-day members
– $210 increase for 6-day members
A full schedule of new rates is available by clicking here. We believe this increase is
necessary to manage rising costs, complete key capital works, and begin building reserves for
upcoming major projects.
Subscription renewal notices will be sent soon, with payment due by 1st July 2025. Early
payment would be appreciated, as it helps reduce loan interest costs by temporarily applying
our cash balance against our loan.
If you are considering transferring categories or need more information to make your decision,
please email Tegan Bithell at tegan@mvgc.com.au at your earliest convenience.
Thank you for your continued support. This year has shown just how great our Club can be as
we progress toward our strategic goals.
Wishing you all good golfing and a happy, healthy 2025-26.
Warm regards,
Lance Barnes
Club President
