With only four months left in our 2024/25 membership year, it’s time to start considering your plans for the upcoming 2025/26 year, commencing 1st August.
As mentioned in our Financial Update emailed two weeks ago, the Club is in a strong position, with most membership categories at or near capacity. Because of this, members wishing to transfer categories at renewal may be unable to do so if their desired category is full. For example, if you are a Fairway member wanting to upgrade to 7 Day, your transfer will only be possible if a spot becomes available. If there are no vacancies, we will add your name to the waitlist for an upgrade when possible.
We already have a short but growing waitlist for those wanting to upgrade or join full categories. Our waitlist gives priority to transfers of current members over new applicants. However, something to keep in mind is that last year, we had 95 members transfer between categories. This means that the later you notify us of your intent to transfer, the higher the chance that your desired category will already be full due to other members transferring. Timing is important, as all transfer requests are logged based on the date of written notification to ensure fairness in processing.
Members requesting a Senior 6 Day or 7 Day Membership should submit their request as early as possible. This allows us to invoice correctly and manage category capacity limits. For reference, eligibility for Senior Membership requires a member to be at least 65 years old and to have been a 7 Day or 6 Day (male or female) member for 25 continuous years.
While we would love to retain all our members, we understand that circumstances and priorities change. So, if you are planning for any reason to leave the Club or transfer to a Social Membership, we’d greatly appreciate early notice to help us organise renewals efficiently.
We won’t know the full membership attrition numbers until after the renewal period, which may affect our ability to accommodate transfer requests. Given that we are likely to be at capacity, having an early indication of potential transfers will help us provide more accurate information to members in the lead-up to renewals.
Just a reminder that the following categories are currently at capacity: 7 Day, 6 Day Men, and all Intermediate & Junior categories.
If you are considering upgrading or downgrading to one of these categories for the 2025/26 membership year, please notify us as soon as possible, as it is highly likely that only limited spots will be available.
If you would like to transfer your category, apply for Senior Membership or resign from the Club as of the 1st of August 2025, please email your request to Tegan Bithell at tegan@mvgc.com.au .
Thank you in advance.
