Service Announcement
Jann’s Service will be held on Monday the 29th August 10am at Ann Wilson, Mona Vale. With the wake to follow back at the Golf Club. Please wear something colourful.
It is with deep regret that we wish to advise MVGC members of the passing of our Life Member Jann Pearson on Friday 19 August 2022. I am sure you will join the Board, Ladies committee and staff in offering our heartfelt condolences to Jann’s husband Jeffrey and their four children, Tracey, David, Kylie, Michelle and their 9 grandchildren.
The contribution Jann made for MVGC and golf in general has been significant and well appreciated by all who worked with her.
Jann joined MVGC on 23 April 1980, 42 years ago. Up until the last 3 months, when Jann’s health deteriorated, she was an active member and even when her health prevented her from playing she was still willing to assist in other ways from selling raffle tickets on charity days, helping out with Legacy Day in recent years and giving guidance to new committees on Pennant Host days. We will miss her presence greatly and her wealth of knowledge that she so willingly shared. It never mattered whether it was a trivial question or an involved ruling, Jann was always the person with the correct answer.
Jann was a very valuable member of the Board and continued on Match and Greens committees after relinquishing her board role. The preparation of the annual fixture book was due in great part to the time Jann dedicated to this difficult task. She also invested many hours refereeing key matches for our board events. Jann was not only involved at MVGC but gave so much of her time to Golf NSW and Golf Australia and was a representative for many years. Some of Jann’s achievements and positions over the years are as follows:

Represented MVGC in Grade for 23 years and caddied in recent years
Chair of Greens Committee for 2 years
Rules Official for the Major Pennants Team for 3 years
Represented MVGC on Women’s Golf NSW Council from 2009
Conducted Seminars for MVGC on rule changes in 2019
Consultant for MVGC course rating, including temporary ratings during course renovations
Rated MVGC 3 times
Frequently refereed both Men’s and Ladies’ matches
Golf NSW and Golf Australia
Zone A Councilor from 2010 – 2016 when the Golf NSW Council was abolished
Member of Golf NSW Women’s Match Committee for 5 years, including many country trips assisting running tournaments and Championship events
Member of Golf NSW Course Rating and Handicapping Committee for 6 years, involving rating all Northern Beaches and Northern Suburbs courses as well as Royal Sydney, The Australian, The Lakes, New South Wales, Concord, Pennant Hills, Bonnie Doon and Stonecutters Ridge. Jann was highly regarded in this role
In 2012 and 2014 Jann was one of two NSW representatives invited by Golf Australia to a Course Rating Seminar at Moonah Links and Peninsula courses in Melbourne and in 2015 and 2016 to Royal Pines to rate their course for the Australian Women’s Open where Jann received National Course Rating Accreditation.
In 2019 Jann was involved with Golf NSW as a member of the Tournament Committee
Jann willingly gave many many hours not only to MVGC but to golf throughout NSW.
MVGC will not only miss Jann’s presence around the Club but also her vast knowledge of so many areas including ratings, handicapping, rules just to name a few.
