Club Update – 18th July

Over the past weeks as restrictions have tightened, golf has become one of the few things which is still permitted under the current exercise rules. We have reviewed time sheets and wait lists during this time and unfortunately we now have pressure on every time sheet across the week.

Many members are still playing multiple times each week with others only gaining limited access. We have decided to reintroduce the rules from last year, whilst we were under the initial Covid restrictions. This means from tomorrow, the rules will be as follows:

  • 7 day members (male and female) will be able to book in 3 competitions each week only.
  • 6 day members (male and female) will be able to book in 2 competitions each week only
  • Cadets and Juniors will be only permitted to play in the 10 hole competition on Wednesdays and Saturdays, full rights on other days.
  • Fairway and Fairway Gold members can book on the day depending on their category rights

We would ask that members currently playing in the busiest competitions (Wednesday & Saturday), who are flexible with playing days, may consider playing on the less busy competition days . This would also reduce stress on the time sheets. Whilst encouraged, currently this is optional.

As we currently have 1 day booking rights there should be no reason to book ahead for an extra competition in a 7 day week if you have already reached your category quota.

For those members with the time to do so, they can still contact the Pro Shop on the day of competition to try to secure a time even if they have reached their quota for the week. The Proshop will make note of your booking for verification.

If your name appears on the booking sheet more than the allotted allowances, you will receive an email notification and we will be removing the booking to free up a spot for those on the waiting list.

The seven day period of bookings will commence from Monday to Sunday. You can be assured that the frequency of play will be monitored by Management and the Match Committee while this restriction is in place. Any member who continually books themselves more than the allotted allowances, may receive a two week booking suspension.

With the tightening of restrictions on indoor spaces we will be closing access to the Clubhouse except for the public toilets and Bunker Bar. This means that the locker rooms will be inaccessible, so if you require anything from the locker rooms please reply to this email to arrange pick-up of any clothes, clubs or shoes from your locker. A message will be sent to those that we have on record as holding a locker, to reinforce this requirement.

Our bunker bar will be limited to two customers at a time to reinforce social distancing so please avoid congestion at the entry and exit points. As a strictly takeaway operation please do not loiter outside the Clubhouse, on the putting green or in the carpark with your purchase. Our ability to provide this service will be balanced against the perception of inappropriate social gathering so please help us do the right thing during this time.

Use of the Bundy clock and kiosks will also be discontinued during this period to minimise potential gathering and communal touchpoints. We strongly encourage the use of the MiScore app at all times and for those requiring the use of a card, please sign your own card and return to the box at the Pro shop immediately after your round.

The Pro shop will be strictly for payment and registration before your round, with conditions of entry through the front door and exit via the storage area. Please maintain the procedures for entry of signing in with the QR code and wearing a mask.

We ask that you check before entering to make sure there are no more than two customers in the Pro shop at a time to properly allow social distancing whilst in the shop. You will see that there is a clear pathway set through the Pro Shop, browsing of clubs and clothing is not currently permitted as this contravenes the Heath orders.

We are grateful that golf is still permitted, and our Club conditions are put in place to safeguard this ability to provide golf for all of us.

As always, we thank you all for your patience and understanding during these times.
