Club Update – Tuesday 5th January 2021

The numbers of Covid-19 cases seems to be improving across the state and in particular the North of the Northern Beaches. As highlighted in the recent NSW Premier’s updates, it appears that the Northern section of the Northern Beaches will join the rest of the Sydney metropolitan area on Saturday 9th January, effective at midnight, allowing us to return to our early December restrictions. The Club will be cautious in its decision making in relation to what is permissible and what will be returned immediately. The bunker bar operations will return on Sunday 10th January under the 4/sqm rule and seated patrons only.

Please note – this is subject to the announcement on Saturday 9th January and assuming no further changes are made to the health order!

The member’s bar will remain closed and the local rules on the course will remain in place for the coming weeks (preferred lies in bunkers and flags to remain in the hole). Please continue marking your own scorecard and not using the touch screens for score entry. Cards can be dropped in the usual boxes in the member’s locker room foyer and the Proshop. The bundy clocks are currently out of order, two new bundy clocks will arrive shortly and we will advise on any changes. The locker rooms are accessible, however the showers are currently out of use and the amenities have been temporarily removed.

Reception and offices will remain contact-free for the time being, so please ring or email through any requests, especially those wishing to redeem prizes to the Pro Shop.

Carts.

In light of the recent Covid infection numbers, we have decided that two people in a cart will be permitted from tomorrow, Wednesday 6th January.

Face Masks.

The recent changes to the health orders means that all hospitality and retail staff must wear a mask. Customers entering all retail outlets must wear a mask, this includes the Proshop at MVGC. Nobody will be permitted to enter the shop without wearing a face mask. We would ask that all members and guests bring a face mask to the Club. The bunker bar is NOT deemed retail and therefore a mask is not compulsory, however, it would be preferred until indoor and outdoor service is available.

Booking Sheet for Wednesday 13th January – Two Tee Start.

The Club will return to two tee starts for our main competition days starting with the timesheet released tonight. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, moving forward, will all be two tee starts.

Fourball Championships and Eclectic 2021.

The Fourball Championship, which was scheduled for this Saturday, will be pushed out a week to Saturday 16th January. In light of the southern section of the Northern Beaches not being able to play, this seemed to be a fair decision as this event is very popular. The eclectic competition will recommence on Saturday 16th January for this reason as well.

Reciprocal Games at Long Reef this Saturday, 9th January.

The reciprocal arrangement with Long Reef GC during the recent border/bridge restrictions has been very well received. Both Long Reef and Mona Vale members were very grateful of the opportunity for a game. Most competition tee times were taken up, as well as social golf after 4pm. There will be tee times available this Saturday at Long Reef, however, you can only call the Long Reef Proshop – 9982 2943 after 12pm on Friday. Long Reef has advised us that if all the spots are taken on Friday, you are permitted to ring on the day and potentially take advantage of a cancellation. Unfortunately, there is no priority booking sheet for those who may have missed out last week. The same rules apply to Long Reef members booking at MVGC.

I would like to thank the Board and Management of Long Reef Golf Club for allowing this reciprocal arrangement.

Happy golfing and we look forward to welcoming back our southern friends soon.
