Dear Members and Guests,
As you are fully aware, both the course and clubhouse are closed until January 1st 2021.
The Board and Management met today to discuss today’s announcements. Clearly the new boundaries, which were announced today are going to make decision making quite challenging.
Further announcements on 27th December may affect what we do going forward; however, based on what we know, I would like to advise that the following restrictions and local rules will be in place,
Effective from 1st January 2021:
- Playing in groups of two
- One person per cart ($30 per cart)
- Social distancing at all times, adhere to 4sq/m rule
- Score and sign your own card, or use the MiScore App, no touch screens will be used for score entry
- Showers will be out of use, with no towels or amenities provided
- There will be a limit of four people in the Proshop at any one time and you must exit through back storage room
Golf Course
- Flag sticks are to remain in the hole at all times, a penalty will apply for removal
- Preferred lies in bunkers, rakes have been removed. Please make an attempt to repair/flatten your play area
- Ball washers and bubblers will remain optional
- Sand buckets will be in use and they will be sanitised by the Proshop following use
- No “nearest the pins”
New QR Code Registration
As highlighted in the Premier’s announcements today, all hospitality venues will be required to use the Service NSW QR code registration from 1st January 2021. In preparation for re-opening our food and beverage offering, we request that all members download the Service NSW App, which allows you to pre-log your details and makes the sign in process much more fluid.
All members and guests must now book in prior to any service of food and beverage. Staff will ask to see your registration before serving you and will refuse service if you are not signed in.
Members Competition on Friday 1st January 2021
On Friday 1st January, there will be an extended medley competition for members from 9.30am to 1.30pm:
- playing in twos
- 68 players
- booking via the internet – 8 days prior at 7pm
Weekend Competition Booking
Saturday 2nd January will be the Monthly Medal for members from 6.30am to 2.30pm:
- playing in twos
- 176 players
- booking via internet, 8 days prior at 7pm
Sunday 3rd January will be a Medley from 7am to 10.30am:
- playing in twos
- 76 players
- booking via internet, 8 days prior at 7pm
All competition booking sheets will return to the internet, which are 8 days prior at 7pm, with the exception of the Open competition on a Tuesday, which is three weeks prior. The trial “Call” will be postponed until further notice.
The priority booking system will return for players who miss a game on a Wednesday or Saturday. Members who are on the wait-list for Wednesdays and Saturdays are encouraged to make use of our priority booking procedure.
Priority booking for the following week’s sheet is offered to those members who missed out on a booking, despite registering on the wait-list. If on the previous wait-list and you did not get a game, this initiative allows you to ring the office on the normal booking day, between 1pm -2pm. You will get a priority booking opportunity.
At this point, we have not put a limit on games or restricted certain categories . I would ask that you avoid multiple games and consider others during this high demand period.
Clubhouse Operations
Over the next few weeks, we will limit the operations at the Club to take away only from the Bunker Bar only.
Once we are able to return to our usual food and beverage offering, the seating will be re-arranged to comply with the 4sq/m rule. As highlighted above, the QR registration will be removed from the bar area to a more easily controlled location. Everyone must be seated, both indoors and outside, unless waiting for food and beverage service. Hygiene practices will be increased and the use of hand sanitiser will be compulsory as you enter the premises.
Reception will have limited hours to answer phone calls and respond to emails from 10am – 2pm on Tuesday 29th December to Thursday 30th December. This will be contact-free, as the doors remain closed upstairs until further notice. Normal reception hours will be established in the New Year as restrictions ease.
It is important to remember that all the above is subject to the Northern Beaches Council allowing Council leased golf courses to remain open throughout this pandemic period.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the members and staff at MVGC a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year, and for all those in quarantine, only eight more sleeps.
Stay safe and keep well.
