Message from Club Captain – Booking Sheet Cancellations

It has come to the attention of the Match Committee that the number of late cancellations and no-shows are increasing from time sheets. If you cannot make your tee time it is your responsibility to notify the Club, professional staff or playing partners and cancel your booking as early as possible.

Wait-list bookings are extensive after the time sheet lotteries are run, then dwindle slowly over the week to 24 hours before competition day. They then reduce quickly overnight before the competition.

The later the cancellation the more difficult it is to fill the space leading to 2 and 3 balls in the comp and loss of opportunity for members to play and organize their commitments in advance.

Cancellations on the day should be avoided unless unforeseen circumstances prevent you playing. They should be made via the Proshop to allow utilization of the spot.

Late cancellations and no show’s demonstrate lack of consideration of your fellow members. As our Membership is close to capacity, missing a game unnecessarily is frustrating and can be avoided.

The ideal situation should be that once you receive an email confirming you have a booking, if that time is not suitable, or you are unlikely to play, then cancel the booking so those on the wait-list can confirm a start time earlier in the week.

The use of “blocker bookings” has also been evident and is inconsiderate and selfish. This practice should be avoided.

We are appealing to each member to be aware of their responsibilities. We do not wish to have to institute punitive action or penalties to attain compliance with this policy.

However, if this practice continues, then repeat offenders could have their next booking on the time sheet cancelled or have a 2-week holiday from their booking rights.

I appeal to each of you to be a little more considerate regarding these matters.

Regards,

Graeme MacDougal
