The 12th green re-shaping is now complete. The turf on the green was replaced today, the green surrounds and collar will be completed next week. Approximately 185 ton of additional soil was used to raise the front and back of the green and green surrounds. The edge of the green was marked with a GPS to ensure the original perimeter was not lost; the collar is now much flatter resulting in fewer shots rolling off the green. The back right corner is now a defined tier with available pin positions. The back left of the green has a much flatter area for pin positions now. The black left green surround has been raised by at least a metre, meaning, the chip shot will be much steeper than before. The front of the green and green surrounds have also been raised by around a metre. This has made the front of the green accessible for pin positions. It will make the approach shot challenging, but putting will be much fairer.
Thanks to Sam Neylon and his entire green staff team for a huge effort during the construction process. Lifting 700 sq/m of turf, only to re-lay around 550sq/m four days later is a mighty effort. Not to mention, keeping the course in top shape for the Ladies Championships. Well done boys!
Preferred Lies and Course Care
As reported above, the course is in great shape and from tomorrow, we have decided to removeĀ preferred lies. Please play the ball as it lies. Please remember to repair all pitch marks plus another one, repair divots and carry a sand bucket at all times. The 13th hole is back to a Par 5; please play 11, 13, 14 then 11A.
