T20 Challenge update and effect on time sheets
Saturday July 4th will be the Monthly Medal as usual but will also be the last day to accumulate T20 Challenge points which go to your 11 month totals for this event.
These totals are recorded under the heading Order of Merit section on the MVGC website (select T20). Please check your position to see if you are in contention. The winner this Saturday 4th July will score 600 points, so big leaps in position can occur.
As communicated previously, and also printed in your fixtures book, the Elimination Final of this event will be held for the Top 60 accumulated points scorers on Saturday the 11th of July.
The final tally and top 60 qualifiers will not be confirmed until after the draw for Saturday 11th, which is held on Friday the 3rd July!
Thus, when you get your lottery number and go to the timesheet this Friday the 3rd, you will see 60 positions reserved at the end of the field as “T20 challenge”. Please make your booking or waitlist placement as usual (yes, there will be a temporarily huge waitlist until qualifiers are known.)
Please do not freak out!
Once qualifiers are confirmed on Monday 6th July, the 60 qualifiers will be entered into the timesheet at the end of the field. This will create movement of bookings for the Saturday 11th competition. As qualifiers fill T20 spots, spaces will be created and will auto-generate from the waitlist.
The same process will repeat itself the following week when the Grand final of 32 players occurs on the 18th of July.
Point of note:
- As a qualifier, both in the Elimination final and the Grand Final, you will play at the end of the field. The lowest points tally (60th to 57th) first group off and the highest points tally (1st to 4th) last group in the field. Pace of play will be important.
- You must play in the Elimination final to qualify for the Grand Final, regardless of your prior points accumulated. (medical exemption with doctor’s certificate is the exception.)
- If you do not wish to play in the Elimination event, please notify Simon or the Club Captain before the 6thof July so someone can take your place.
- It is planned to have a presentation and function immediately after the Grand Final and your attendance if in the field, is encouraged.
I hope this helps reduce any confusion or frustration occurring in the booking process on the 3rd.
For those who are not successful in qualifying, I hope you will continue to have some interest in the outcome as there is some “hard earned” up for grabs in the Grand Final.
Cheers
Graeme MacDougal
Club Captain
