Last Sunday, Mona Vale Golf Club hosted the 1st US Kids Golf Tournament of their Winter Tour. We had 44 youngsters travel from Bathurst, the Hunter Valley, all parts of Sydney and even one player from South Africa.
It wasn’t looking good early in the day with rain threatening to affect play but things improved and we got very lucky with a dry afternoon.
Mona Vale Golf Club had 6 of our Cadet Members participating with most of them playing in their very first golf competition. They all represented the club with distinction and came away with some fantastic results.
Harrison Lane in the 7yrs – 3rd place
Cooper Cameron in the 8yrs – 6th place
Hugh Grant in the 10yrs – 2nd place
Archie Stanford in the 10yrs – 3rd place
James Grant in the 12yrs – 1st place
Kallum Grant in the 12yrs – 2nd place
On a personal note, I was a very proud and nervous father watching my son Harrison play in his first competition.
I want to thank Leon Faulkner and his staff from US Kids Golf for all of their hard work. Also thank you to the members of Mona Vale Golf Club for being such great supporters of junior golf. We have a large number of enthusiastic kids in our Junior Development Program and the future of our club is looking very bright.
