Course Construction Update

The hot, dry weather is continuing in December with little or no rain in sight. A number of members have asked about the low water levels in our main dam. Unfortunately, last week, we lost our bore pump due to a mechanical failure. The bore provides around 300,000 litres of water each night. Fortunately, we have a spare pump in the workshop, which will be replaced on Thursday this week.

Over an average week, we use around 2 million litres of water on our green, tees and fairways. While the bore pump is out of action, we have temporarily stopped watering fairways. The main dam at capacity holds around 13 million litres of usable water. Without the bore and stormwater runoff, this does not last very long. Fingers crossed, we get some of the rain later this week. We do have the capacity to buy town water and pump this into the main dam; this would be considered, if the dry weather continues.

In case you missed it on Friday, we released our latest course construction video, showcasing the work completed on the 16th bunkers and the wetland project between holes 1 and 11. If you’ve been curious about the transformations—or the “why” behind each upgrade—this video gives you all the details of the improvements.
