Club Championships
This week will see the first qualification for club championships on Thursday and Saturday.
A reminder that you need to have completed 10 competition rounds at this Club or a previous Club prior to joining us to be eligible to qualify.
This year, there are 2 qualifying stroke rounds to decide which 8 players will contest the 3 further Match Play rounds. The grade you play in will be based on your handicap of the day, not your GA.
Women’s qualifying dates are 25th September and 2nd October. Match Play rounds on 9th, 16th and 23rd October.
Men’s qualifying dates are 27th September and 4th October. Match Play rounds on 11th, 18th and 25th October.
We ask you to register your name on the sheets available in the Pro Shop on the day. Your intent to participate in the event requires you to be available for each stage of the 5-week event. Failure to participate after registering your availability will not be well received by the Match Committee.
The Men’s Senior and Junior Championships will be decided by the aggregate score of the 2 qualifying rounds.
It would be helpful to review Match Play rules and procedures in the R&A rules guide on their app or via the MiScore facility. Also, refer to Fixtures Book for more details on Grades, Age Categories and Conditions of Play.
Pace of Play
With the next few weeks dominated by stroke rounds and championships, I ask that we all be acutely aware of the need to keep up with the playing group in front of you. Please think about your next shot as you approach your ball, quickly prefer your lie if needed, limit the number of practice swings, play your shot and move efficiently between shots. Do not leave your clubs at the front of the green while putting out. Once your ball is holed, move swiftly to the next tee.
At the end of the round, please confirm your scores with your partner and submit the score ASAP after finishing the last hole. This improves the accuracy of the times recorded against your name.
Course Care
After recent coring and wet weather, please fill your divots on the fairways and repair pitch marks on the greens.
This will assist the green staff to enhance the rate of recovery of the course.
Golf Australia Changes
Golf Australia is introducing a new App for mobiles called Golf Connect.
This process begins September 28th, at which time the current mobile App and Golf link will cease to operate.
While the update and changes are introduced, there will be no handicapping of your submitted competition scores. The first phase of this process will take until October 2nd and then our licensed service provider, MiClub, will be required to adjust its software to complete the implementation process. The exact time period for this to occur is not entirely clear, but it is hoped to be within a week.
The effect of this is that the GA handicap and resulting handicap of the day off red and black tees for the first qualifying round of the championships will be frozen and used for the second round also. (i.e. no adjustments until the process is complete).
We will continue to update members on each step required to complete this process.
