In light of all the recent and forecasted rain, along with the current course conditions, we’ve made the decision to postpone the upcoming major course renovations. This renovation is a very important part of the annual maintenance of the course at MVGC.
The current saturation of the course means the renovations cannot be carried out properly. We would sustain a lot of damage from the heavy machinery driving around the course. The ground must be firm and dry for us to be able to core all greens, fairways and green surrounds. We then apply sand and fertiliser. After which, we add irrigation into the process. Clearly, this cannot be done with the current course conditions.
We have decided to push the greens renovations to Sunday 31st August at 2pm and close the course on Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd September.
We will concentrate on getting the greens completed first, as they have the biggest impact on the calendar of events. Once the course has dried up, we will come up with a plan for the fairways and green surrounds. However, we will not be closing the course to do so. This will likely occur during the months of September/October.

In light of the above changes, there will now be a Members’ “Call” tonight (Tuesday) booking for Wednesday, 27th August.
The sheet for the Women on Thursday 28th will come out as normal on the Wednesday 20th, however, as the Women have already planned an away golf day, the competition will only run from 7.48 till 9am for Women only. If more times are required, we will make them available.
