Course Update

A course inspection was carried out today, and unfortunately, the 6.5mm of rain overnight has set us back again. The course remains completely waterlogged and is not safe for play, so it will remain closed tomorrow.

Our next inspection will take place tomorrow afternoon, and we’ll continue to keep you updated.

In the meantime, our greens staff have begun cutting the rough in the wetter areas using whipper snippers, as the larger rough mowers are unable to access these sections safely.

While the course remains closed tomorrow, our greens staff will continue to tidy and mow any accessible areas. Prolonged saturation has caused some turf damage on selected fairways, which we’ll begin addressing as soon as conditions allow. These areas will be cored and aerated, and in some cases, replaced with new turf once the ground has dried sufficiently.

Bunker repairs will be a lower priority at this stage. Our main goal is to get the course cut and playable in time for competition golf this Saturday. Most bunkers will remain GUR over the weekend—which we suspect won’t be too disappointing for many of you!

A huge thank you goes to our hardworking greens team for their ongoing commitment during what has been an incredibly challenging period. Your efforts are genuinely appreciated by everyone at the Club.

Let’s hope this run of sunshine and wind continues to help dry things out.
