Monday saw the finals day for this year’s NPICC held at Wakehurst GC. We were in play off for 3rd and 4th v Bayview who had beaten us 10 days before.
We had a solid team of 8 out of our 12 players who represented during the season.
Mike Robotham, Stephen Hepworth, Steve Whitmore, Mike Harris, Kevin Rule, Larry Bulgin, Richard Tebbutt and Mark Thompson played.
At 9 holes most matches were in our favour with Kevin Rule on fire 5 up. The managers on the day Doc and Rob McDonald had their chests out and strutting.
At 15 holes things had changed and Bayview were grinding their way back. Doc reached for the under arm deodorant and a towel to wipe down M McDonald’s face.
After the next 3 holes the result ended with a win to Mona Vale 4 to 3 1/2. We had won the Wanner-bee trophy. Winners were Whitmore, Kevin Rule 8 and 6, Mike Harris with squares to Mike Robotham at 1 and a courageous Mark Thompson at 8.
The dinner and refreshments provided by our hosts Wakehurst were sweet and enjoyed by our 11 attendees.
Long Reef won the event over Cromer who were previously undefeated.
