Golf NSW Women’s Grade 4 Pennant Competition

After a slow start to the season, the team finished on a high note by winning their last game at Mona Vale. We were up against Moore Park, who were vying for the division title against Royal Sydney, so it was never going to be an easy match.

Everyone put in a solid effort, with Peta securing a convincing 4-3 win, Ros and Niki finishing 2up, and Raina and Susie playing to the 17th and 15th holes, respectively. We ended up tied for 3rd on game points and 4th overall. It was a fantastic team effort and a terrific way to wrap up the year!

I would personally like to thank each member of the squad-Ros Black, Peta Gilliland, Niki Hosking, Lisa Spray, and Susie Cole-for their dedication throughout the tournament. It takes a lot of commitment, especially with our already busy schedules, to include practice sessions, early morning starts, and long-distance travel.

As always, Mona Vale is fortunate to have a large group of supportive fans who are willing to rise early, travel long distances, pull buggies, and ensure the players are hydrated, nourished, and emotionally stable. A big thank you to the caddies-Wayne Laughton, Helen Biven, Liz Vincent, Bev Logan, Robyn Cattanach, Peter Hosking, Janelle Branch, and Derek Cole-for their time, patience, and unwavering support.

The last day also saw Mona Vale host the presentation in the “Taj Marquee.” Anne Tucker and the committee worked hard to scrub and decorate the tables, with Anne’s homemade cookies and slices taking center stage. Kate and Simon did a great job organizing the catering, despite challenging conditions with the wind picking up during meal service.

Nick and his staff had the course looking superb, making a significant effort to mark many Ground Under Repair (GUR) areas affected by bird damage.

Thank you, everyone, for showcasing Mona Vale under these challenging circumstances.

Regards

Raina Laughton
