On another note, a complaint has been made by some women members regarding the way male members are occasionally taking “urgent relief on the course” usually in the general area.
This is a problem, particularly in medley competition, and thus where possible should be avoided!
Specific areas are available around the club house and between the 5th and 6th fairways in the temporary facilities for said relief, and should be the first option taking urgent relief.
Although not covered specifically in the R&A rules of golf or the PGA, our club has an unwritten local rule as follows, to be applied in such testing situations.
‘ When members are “taking urgent relief on the course” they should do so with great discretion to avoid offending other members who may inadvertently observe this action’
Thank you and happy golfing.
