Mi Score App Format

As a club we now have a large percentage of our members enjoying the many benefits of the MiScore app in regular competition and social play.

The self-submission scoring format approved during the initial waves of the Covid pandemic allowed us to all to safely record our scores along with our playing partners without exchanging cards or phones. Whilst beneficial in preventing unnecessary contact points it has allowed a certain amount of complacency in the scores verified and submitted by each playing partner. Whilst the onus is on the player to verify his/her own score, the technology to prevent any score discrepancies between the player and the marker being submitted have not yet been properly implemented. There is a feature within the MiScore app that highlights any score discrepancies between player and marker and prevents submission but this has been several months in the pipeline to becoming functional. The Pro shop can see the visual report of the scores submitted as player and marker after submission but this still leaves questions as to which score is correct – the one signed for by the player, or the score verified by the marker?

The Match Committee has decided that from Thursday 1st September we will revert back to the traditional method of marking your partner’s scorecard be that within the app or on a physical scorecard. This level of cross-checking and responsibility for your fellow playing partner’s scores will better ensure the accuracy of all scores submitted. Good communication between playing partners is vital to ensuring the accuracy of scoring so we encourage all members to make this a hole by hole practice rather than at the end of the round.

For those players not using the MiScore app they will need to let the Pro Shop know upon registration in order to receive their playing partner’s card to mark. For most players using the app, there will not be much difference between self-scoring and marking your playing partner’s score except that now you will be responsible for the verification and submission of your partners score. If any members have any issues with the new scoring method within the app please go to Menu > Restart APP so the APP updates.
