Today’s communication is aimed at encouraging members to follow appropriate booking and cancellation procedures especially considering timesheet spots are in high demand due to increased member activity.
Recent weeks of monitoring the usage of timesheet spots have demonstrated that on the opening day of the timesheet all spots are filled with a waiting list which stays most of the week. The day before the designated event there is a flurry of activity with cancellations occurring right through until the morning of the competition. These vacancies then autofill, however often those on the waitlist do not receive notification in time to play in the event. Many of those people on the waitlist have already made other arrangements for the day on the assumption that no spots will be available. Empty spots are the result and the number of “no shows” are increased. This results in disappointment for members and causes the Club a loss of income.
To assist in minimizing empty spots in competition and to maximise the opportunity of members to have a game, I ask you to follow a few simple principles when booking and cancelling names on timesheets.
- Before booking playing partners, ensure they can playin the event you are selecting.
- Notify your partnersthat they have been booked.
- When you receive the email notification of your booking time, please check that you can playand if not, cancel early. Cancelling within 30 minutes of your scheduled tee time is unacceptable and penalties may apply if you do not have a good reason.
- The Proshop have been asked to monitor all no shows and late cancellations.
We do not wish to have to introduce punitive action and penalties for the continuation of this behaviour. Please consider your playing partners and all members when making and cancelling bookings.
Happy Golfing,
Graeme MacDougal
