Increased Golf Demand

With lockdown conditions in place, golf has once again become a sought after activity for the community, and demand has been overwhelming. With many of us working from home or unable to work due to Covid restrictions, some have more opportunities to play golf throughout the week however with our course close to capacity these opportunities to play are becoming limited.

The Board is committed to maximising the available times for our member competitions and so a number of tee times have been opened up on Mondays, Tuesdays and Sundays where possible as daylight hours are a major factor at this time of year. Demand from the public has filled our public timesheets well before the release of member times unfortunately, giving very little flexibility as to increased member spots. Our current timesheets have been booked solid right through to 4pm every day of the week which is unbelievable.

Unprecedented demand from our members throughout the week has resulted in varying waitlists for most days. We urge all eligible members who are on the waitlist to make use of the priority booking system we have in place for Wednesdays and Saturdays.

We will now make a priority waitlist available for Sundays from this weekend, so if you are on the waitlist for Sunday 11th July please phone Reception at 1pm on Saturday 10th July to make a priority booking for the week ahead.

Recently, less than half of those on the waitlists have taken up the opportunity of a priority booking.

Changes to the current fixtures have been made to better accommodate our full fields these include the postponing of the T20 finals series from the 10th & 17th July, and the first round of the Ladies 4BBB Knockout Matchplay on Monday 19th July has been moved to Thursday 22nd July.

The increased demand for golf has also triggered an increase in membership applications and given the limited availability of tee times, the Board have decided to suspend all new memberships until the end of August, at the earliest, to better assess our membership levels after the renewal period.
