Good Morning Members and Visitors
As advised on Saturday 19th December via an e-news communication, a member, who was at the Club on Wednesday 16th December has tested positive to Covid-19. Since that communication, the NSW Health contact tracing team have been in touch with everyone, who was at the Club on that day. Some members, who attended the Club have been identified as minor contact (10am-3pm) and others have been identified as close contact. All members and staff, who attended the Club between 5pm and 10pm have been identified as close contacts, and should have received a text and/or a call from Health NSW. If you have not received a call or text, please reply to me on this email as soon as possible. I am in direct contact with NSW Health and the contact tracing team.
Around 115 members and 95% of the staff at MVGC are currently on a 14 day isolation period. We therefore have limited staff available at the Club during this period. The greens team are not in isolation, however, we have decided to split the greens team into two teams as a precautionary measure. In light of so many affected at the Club, the Board and Management have decided to close the Club and course until 31st December (inclusive).
The Proshop will be open for limited hours between 8am and 10am for limited retail and for golfers to pick up their equipment from the club storage room. (commencing Wednesday 23rd ,Thursday 24th and Saturday 26th December) The Board and Management team will be meeting via zoom during this period to discuss the updates from NSW Health and decide what rules and regulations will be in implemented upon the re-opening of the Club. We do expect to be under similar restrictions as we were under in the early stages of Covid.
The Clubhouse and Proshop have already been deep cleaned and certified as per the NSW Health Act.
The direction from NSW Health is, if you have been deemed close contact and had a test and the result came back as negative, you must still monitor for symptoms and remain at home for 14 days. You could still be infected, even though your first test was negative. You MUST get a second test on days 10-12, wait for a negative result and still remain in isolation for the 14 day period.
We understand the above information is far from ideal, especially during the festive season. Mona Vale Golf Club is such big part of our lives and wellbeing and I’m sure many are disappointed about missing golf, exercise and our social interaction. Please take a few minutes to think about our members and staff who won’t get to see their loved ones over the festive season due to the isolation period.
Please stay safe and let keep positive that 2021 will be much better.
Happy New Year from the Board and Management of MVGC.
