Course Renovation Update

The annual course renovations are going well. The wet weather today will hold up the team briefly but only in relation to cleaning up the cores. Last Sunday the fairways were scarified which involves pulling out dead grass to stimulate new growth. Sam and his team then core the fairways, allow them to dry and rub them back in to the surface.

The whole process should be finished by tomorrow afternoon (Thursday 10th Sept). On Friday, the fairways will be cut, blown off and fertilised. Most fairways will play very well without the need to even prefer you lie. However, due to a few fairways that have shade issues, preferred lies will remain in play for another week or two. A big thank you to Sam and the green staff team for working some long hours, including split shifts, to ensure the process is completed as soon as possible.

12th Green Re-shaping

As reported in the latest Course Update, the 12th green will be re-shaped in late September. This date has been brought forward by a week, which means 11A will be in play from Thursday 17th September. The re-shaping of the 12th green will only take a few days, however while this work is being done the 13th hole will play from a slightly shorter tee. Once the green is finished and the turf is re-laid, the green should take around 8 weeks to recover and be back in play.

During this 8 week period the order of play will be as follows –

Play the 11th hole as normal, walk the 12th hole via the tee, fairway and tree line. DO NOT cut across 11A or the 13th hole as players could hit errant shots. Play 13th and 14th as normal, then play 11A after the 14th. Please mark the 11A score as the 12th hole.
