Major Pennant 2020 Rnd 6

Mona Vale V Avondale @ Avondale Golf Club.
It was a very cool Sunday morning, and we had a bit of light rain prior to our 7am tee off.
The team selected to play was:

4) Alex Munro (C)
5) Jake Dundas
6) Andy Hugill
7) Bruce Edwards
Res) Ben Gross
The committed and well-prepared Mona Vale team were ready to play, and we were really hoping to continue the form from the previous two weeks. We also needed to know the other team’s results which would decide our section.
We started well, and this continued the entire front 9 where things were neck and neck. There were some light showers coming & going when we moved into the back 9, but things continued to improve. At one point in the mid back 9, a 5-2 win was looking like a possibility. Unfortunately, as per weeks two and three, things did not go well for us. Over the closing holes, our opponents seem to have all the good fortune, running out 4 1/2 – 2 1/2 winners.
Congratulations to the Avondale team who were under immense pressure over the final two weeks to avoid a relegation play-off match after being in the Division 1 final last season. Another good effort from our team finishing second in our section, placing us in the top eight clubs in Sydney once again. St Michael’s won our section and they will move on to the semi-finals, with Avondale third and Bankstown finishing in the relegation play-off position.
Well done to our guys for putting in a massive effort and for being committed each week, representing our club in an outstanding manner as great competitors and displaying good sportsmanship.
Congratulations to this season’s debutantes Ben Gross, Tom Reeves and Jake Dundas.
A massive congratulations to a “young man” named Bruce Edwards who finished the season undefeated. What an outstanding effort!!
A big thank you to all our caddies who drag themselves out of bed early on a Sunday morning to come out and assist the players.
Many thanks to MVGC management and staff for all your efforts on and off the golf course whilst we were hosting our home matches.

Best of luck to all the clubs that have made it through to the semi-final play-offs for the 2020 season. We will be back again in 46 weeks doing our best to get through our section and win another pennant!
