Dear Members,
As detailed in the e-news on Tuesday 17th March, the Club has taken certain steps to assist in reducing the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). We have been continually monitoring the growing implications of the COVID-19 virus to our Club’s daily activity and what it means for the wider community. As such, we are implementing new measures and increasing our current cleaning procedures to reduce the risks and keep our Club as safe as possible. At this point in time, our Club’s priority is to ensure, to the best of our ability, the health and wellbeing of our members and guests.
We are focused on keeping the Club operational and safely providing our services to members and the community.
The Government have now increased the levels of restrictions relating to pubs and Clubs. The Executive Board members met on Wednesday for an emergency meeting to consider the updated restrictions. Following the meeting, the Board and Senior Management agreed on the following changes.
- We will be splitting all departments of the Club into an A and B team scenario. The departments are as follows; Administration, Course, Proshop, Kitchen and Food & Beverage. The purpose of this is to reduce the risk of key staff being exposed to the virus at once, and allow the Club to continue to operate if a key employee contracts the virus.
- Personal contact will be minimised in all of our transactions by:
- Discouraging cash usage and encouraging contactless card payments in the Club and Pro Shop
- For the time being, members will be able to use their house credit by identifying themselves to the bar staff and showing their membership card or, preferably, scanning their digital card available on the Club app.
- No requirement to swap score cards, single signature will suffice for a temporary period. Best practice would be to discuss and agree on scores verbally.
- Cancellation of the Members “Call” on Tuesdays and Friday nights from Tuesday 24th of March – Bookings will now be taken by phone and released on the internet at 2pm until further notice. The weighting of the internet and phone bookings will be 50/50; you will see this displayed on the timesheet as alternate lines.
- Cancellation of all functions over 80 people in any one area. (Government policy is 100 people per venue space, this includes staff)
- Cancellation of all shotgun starts due to social gathering in small spaces.
- Weekend lunch trade will be in the Bunker Bar only. Members Lounge will be open from 3pm.
- Poker machines will not be operational until further notice
- The operational hours of the Clubhouse will be determined on a weekly basis; this will depend on the number of members and guests using the facility.
Please note – a Senior Manager will be rostered on 7 days a week.
During this time of uncertainty, constantly changing directions and information from authorities, we request that both our staff and members stay updated with health directives and be conscious about their personal hygiene.
Our suggested guidelines when on the Course and in the Clubhouse are as follows:
Cart Usage
- Take one cart per person, if not, have one designated driver
- Staff will sanitise carts before and after usage
Course Usage
- Leave flag stick in the hole
- No shaking of hands prior or post the game
- No score card exchange
- Rake bunker with gloved hand only
Clubhouse Usage
- Use hand sanitiser upon entry and exit of Clubhouse
- Use hand sanitiser after using touch screens and/or score entry
- Wash hands after golf
- Wash hands after sun cream application
We are focused on keeping the Club operational and safely providing our services to members and the community. We have a shared responsibility to minimise the risk of exposure; so use common sense and take practical precautions to ensure your health.
