Pace of Play

Since the introduction of the Pace of Play Policy in October 2017 playing times have improved by at least 30 minutes and in some instances up to 45 minutes. In the last few months whilst we have continued to monitor the bundy times we have refrained from sending Slow Play Notifications due to the hot humid weather and the wetness of the course, which caused the rough to grow longer and thicker than normal with the accompanying difficulty in finding balls. Generally, we handled this pretty well and playing times remained below the 4 hours and 20 minutes, however there were some groups who infringed the Pace of Play Policy but did not receive notifications.

The greens staff continue to mow the rough to keep it under control and we are now reaching a time when it will be easier for them with less hot days and hopefully less rain. This should mean the rough will begin to thin out and become more manageable. Until it does I would ask for your co-operation in keeping up with the group in front and ensuring that we maintain the splendid playing times we now have.

Whilst speaking about the course I would also like to point out that due to the rain the greens are softer than usual and are more susceptible to pitch marks. Please therefore ensure your pitch mark is repaired. Please also ensure you carry a sand bucket for divots, repair bunkers and leave the rake in the middle of the bunker in the direction of play. Too often I see footprints in bunkers and rakes leaning on the edge of bunkers ready to catch a ball and thus give a player an impossible shot.

Otherwise to all our members, keep up the good work and enjoy your golf.
