Golf Carts – Winter No Drive Zones
With the cooler months approaching and some recent wet weather, we would ask all cart drivers to be diligent where they drive. Sam will do his best to keep the carts on the course during the wet months. However, he will need your help by observing the ropes and actions zones through the GPS systems. Action zones through the GPS system are created to prevent carts from driving in restricted areas. These are generally areas of the course, where the course superintendent in trying to spread wear to improve turf quality. Some fairways at MVGC do not see much sunlight during the winter months. These areas require protection from carts and will be action zoned for the winter period.
If your cart suddenly slows down, please read the message on the screen and it will advise of what action should be taken. It will simply read, move to the left or right hand side of the fairway. Once you are out of the action zone, the cart will return to its normal speed. If the cart comes to a full STOP, you have entered a prohibited area or too close to a tee or green. Please reverse until the carts returns to full speed. Again, a message will direct you, where to drive.
The cart zones can be frustrating, however, they are there to protect the course and spread wear during the wet winter months. Please help Sam and his team by observing the cart zones and ropes. This will keep the course in great shape throughout the winter period. Thank you for your understanding.
Happy golfing.
