NPICC Finals Report

Wooden Spooners to WINNERS!!

On Monday afternoon the finals of the Northern Peninsula Interclub Challenge were held at Mona Vale. In the playoff for the championship were Mona Vale and Long Reef, second and third was between Cromer and Wakehurst and the wooden spoon was played for by Manly and Bayview. The 2019 Champion club is MONA VALE. We had a convincing seven and a half to nil win and all matches were finished early.

This caps off our most successful season in the seventeen year history of this event and it was fitting that we did it at home.

Our thanks go to Sam and his team for the way the course was presented, to Kathryn, Kate and their team for the wonderful dinner they provided, to the bar staff for their service and patience and to the board and Andy for the support they gave us throughout.

Most of all I want to thank our players. It was an honour to be captain of the first Mona Vale team to win the Challenge and to win it so emphatically. Our team was Nigel Westgarth, Rod Dick, Graeme ‘Doc’ Macdougal, David Rose, Bruce Tait, Steve McNamara, Bob Paton, Rob McDonald, Gary Pickworth, Ross Fleming and Paul Stead. Thanks boys it was great.
