Course Update

The greens renovations have been completed today as planned. The course will be open tomorrow with carts on and all bunkers back in play. Preferred lies on the mown portion will be in play until further notice. Please check with the Pro Shop prior to playing your game in case of any late changes.

Sam and his team have managed to mow most of the course today, however there are many areas of the course which are still very long and require additional mowing. With the greens renovations behind us the greens staff will focus on full time mowing until the course is back to its best. Thank you to the entire greens staff team for your dedication and commitment following a pretty ordinary week.

A huge thank you to the massive group of volunteers who came out this week to assist with the big clean up. A second group of members came out again on Thursday to help with the greens renovations. Your love for the Club and course is very much noticed and we are very thankful to have you as members of Mona Vale Golf Club.

The insurance assessors have now visited the Club to review all damaged areas. The 12th green is clearly the worst affected area and the most immediate priority. We will commence the re-build next Monday with inspections to be carried out on the new drainage, storm water pipes and irrigation upgrades to see if anything requires replacement. The damaged turf will be stripped and removed, and the soil which was washed away will be replaced with new soil. The contouring and shaping of the green surrounds and bunker edges will be re-done to the original design.

The green shape and collar appears to have survived the brunt of the storm. Some areas of the green did require more seed and additional cores but the damage was minimal. This could delay the opening of the green by a few weeks, however it’s very hard to estimate at such an early stage.
