Golf Course Wear Management<\/u><\/h2>\n

Firstly, I would like to thank all the members for the positive feedback that came from last week’s Mona Vale Medal. The Greens Staff are proud to present the course at this level, and when we hear the positive comments, it makes all the effort worthwhile.<\/p>\n

During the strategic planning workshop, which was held at the Club in September of this year, we identified areas of the course that could be improved. We also listened to the feedback from the 2020 member’s survey.
\nThe areas that were identified and deemed as a high priority for the upcoming growing season were the collars and greens surrounds. You may have noticed in the recent weeks that most of the worn collars have been re-turfed, and some greens surrounds and pathways have been repaired with new turf. The need for these repairs arises every year due to wear which can be minimised.<\/p>\n

\u00a0I NEED YOUR HELP MOVING FORWARD<\/em><\/h4>\n

I understand that nobody likes ropes and posts in areas, which are often in play. However, without them, there will be no grass to play from and the collars will turn into dirt, year after year. I request that all players make an effort not to walk between narrow collars and bunkers, especially if a collar rope or directional sign is indicating no access. I would also ask that you do not walk over greens with your buggies. Over the past ten years, we have installed concrete pathways on nearly every hole and I ask that where possible, they are used by carts and pull buggies. The greens and collars which suffer the most are 1st, 2nd, 7th, 11th and 17th. However, it would be most beneficial if members walk around all the bunkers and not between them. Please do not cut across green surrounds and or drive close to greens and tees.<\/p>\n

We will be reintroducing some ropes and posts on the 1st and 11th. New signs and directional ropes will be used in the coming weeks. The GPS systems in the carts have been altered, they will now guide all drivers to the desired direction. If the GPS in the cart slows down, please read and observe the message on the screen. On holes such as the 1st, 2nd, 6th, 8th, 9th and 11th, you will see a blue line directing all traffic towards the concrete pathway. We would appreciate if all traffic, including walkers and those with pull buggies, use the concrete pathways if practical. Please help us improve the wear around the golf course and maybe next winter, we will be able to keep the grass cover on the heavily shaded areas. Feel free to pass on the message to other members relating to course care.<\/p>\n
