Par: 5 Length: 468 Stroke: 15/31 Match: 5 |

The initial feeling you get as you walk down hill to your ball on the par 5 first is likened to stepping back to nature. You have a water hazard at driving distance to the left where water fowl of many types will be paddling or using as a base to wander onto the fairways.
Things tighten up at the 150m marker so you'll need to set up your approach carefully so as not to be playing pinball from the trees early in your round. The green is heavily guarded and narrow but long.
Playing Tip:
Avoid water left off the tee and the trees on the right. Don't bite too much off the dog leg with the second shot. Heavily bunkered green is very fast from back to front so keep pitch under the hole.

The second is a testy par 3 uphill all the way to the flag so take one more club that you might first think. More sand than the Sahara surrounds the VERY SMALL green so hit for the centre, staying under the hole if possible. There is trouble either side of a fairway lay-up so make sure you hit straight.
Playing Tip: Take one more club than distance suggests to fly the ball onto the green. Green slopes from right to left and back to front so try to stay under the flag.

The third is a tight par 5 that needs to be attacked left off the tee as the ground falls to the right. The green is guarded by a small pond on the left hand side. Very challenging 2nd shot due to narrow entrance towards the green.
Playing Tip: Keep drive mid left as ball slides right on the fairway. A long iron shot will lay up short of the water. Try to fly pitch shot into the middle of the green.

Par: 4 Length: 339 Stroke: 9/25 Match: 9 |

|
|
The fourth is a shorter par four that only requires a fairway wood or long iron off the tee - accuracy again required rather than distance.
Playing Tip: A fairway wood or long iron up the fairway. Take an extra club into the green but avoid being long. It is very small green however it is very fast from back to front

Hole: 5
Par: 5 Length: 510 Stroke: 7/23 Match: 1 |

|
|
Hole number five is a long and challenging par 5 just on 510 metres in length with a dog leg you'll only have to worry about on your second shot (as it's too far away to concern your drive).
If you can belt a drive safely away and bend your second with a favourable draw, you'll still need a fair iron into the green. The dance floor is tiny for such a long hole so you'll need to be spot on. Remember that the front of the green runs steeply back to front so be up at the pin.
Playing Tip: Dog leg can only be taken on after a very long drive so lay up just past the corner for a short iron into the green. Be up, green slopes dramatically at front and will stop any under hit shot.

Six is a long par 3 well protected on both sides by bunkers. It's also open to the elements being set on the side of the hill so take the wind into account. Depending on the wind I'm sure there could be a wide range of clubs used on this hole. Can be a very challenging par 3. It is a large tiered green so check the pin placement before finally selecting your club.
Playing Tip: Check the wind before selecting your club into this long and narrow green. There are trees and bunkers on the left near the green and plenty of trouble on the right.

Par: 4 Length: 323 Stroke: 12/27 Match: 17 |

The seventh is a lovely short par four, water at 200 metres on both sides of the fairway leaving a narrow landing area. Once negotiated the party isn't over with more water beckoning your ball on the left of the green with a bank on that side sliding towards the wet stuff. To add further insult to injury, the green has a few subtle breaks that may leave you bemused.
Playing Tip: Avoid ponds left and right off the tee to leave mid to short iron to the green. Take enough club to clear the bunker and the water guarding the front left green. Beware very subtle breaks on the green.

Eight is another par three, again uphill all the way so take enough stick. Be careful of the huge bunker on the left hand side. The green slopes right to left and is very quick from back to front. Take note of the pin position to be sure you are below the hole.
Playing Tip: Take one extra club up the hill to avoid the bunker. A ball hit to the right edge will take the slope down to the middle. Try to be below the hole on this fast sloping green.

The ninth is a lovely par four finish to the front nine (noting that you are no where near the clubhouse after this hole - it's at the end of the tenth). OOB follows the hole all the way down the left with heavy trees and hazards right.
Bending gently left you'll need a longer iron to the green that is pear shaped with the small bit at the front, sided by two Archies. A tier in the middle of the green will provide more fun than a rollercoaster if you are not on the right level.
Playing Tip: One of the best holes as it is more challenging and has more character. Beware of out of bounds left and hazards and trees on the right. A fairway wood off the tee will leave a mid to long iron into an undulating well bunkered green.

The tenth is a dog leg to the right. Look for the middle of the fairway with your drive off the tee. Bunkers and trees protect the right hand side. Remember to take an extra club for the hill. Be sure to check the wind direction as the highest green on the course is very exposed with a bunker front left and gullies on the right.
Playing Tip: Aim for the middle of the fairway to avoid the trouble on the right. The surface of the long and narrow tenth green is always rock hard so be careful to select the right club for your approach shot or you will risk over-shooting the green.

Par: 5 Length: 485 Stroke: 11/28 Match: 6 |

|
The eleventh is like the first. Water is in range on the right and you've got trees on the left. You shouldn't try to cut too much off the dog leg right on your second shot or you'll close your target off too much. A creek runs up the left side of the fairway to trap wayward second shots. This green is bunkered front and right and also has very subtle breaks.
Playing Tip: This fairway is flat. Play to the left to position yourself for your second shot. The low markers sometimes place their first shot to the right of the first fairway and then play their second over the trees onto the green. Beware of the water hazard which runs around the lefthand side of the green - good luck!

Par: 4 Length: 335 Stroke: 10/26 Match: 13 |

|
|
The twelfth is a sharp dog leg left but you only need to worry about driving straight through the fairway if you have the wind at your back. The green is a small target for your second, but you should only have a mid to short iron in.
Stroke Index 10 for the men (6 for the ladies) this can be a difficult hole. Always a challenge on stroke events. There is lots of trouble on the left in the trees.
Playing Tip: The right hand corner of the fairway, on the bend, is the perfect position for your first shot. Attempt the dog leg carry off the tee ONLY with a strong 'nor-easter' behind. A mid to short iron will get you safely on the right to left green avoiding the long bunker on the right.

Par: 5 Length: 479 Stroke: 13/30 Match: 4 |

|
Thirteen is a long par 5 sweeping right with hospital grounds this side all the way to the green providing an OOB hazard to be wary of. Again the green is narrow with two nasty deep bunkers on the left so err right if you need to play safe.
Long hitters must be careful off the tee. Hitting it too long and straight will put you in the trees.
Playing Tip: A controlled fade from the tee will serve you well on this hole. A greedy tee shot or slice ends up in hospital grounds! Play hole cautiously and beware OOB down the entire right side. Cavernous bunkers are on the left of this long narrow green, so be up.

Hole fourteen is short but is surrounded by three large bunkers with a deep bunker at the front so be long in preference to a shot from the sand. Check the wind before selecting your club. Take enough to carry the front bunker, the hardest on the course to escape. Plenty of room at the back of the green.
Playing Tip: Throw caution to the wind and shoot for the pin.

Par: 4 Length: 409 Stroke: 1/19 Match: 2 |

|
|
Hole fifteen is a great hole - one which I doubt many players will reach off the tee in two. Measuring 409 metres off the back markers, you have water off the tee on the right. This water hazard is a beautiful lake, home of ducks and other water fowl. The clubhouse bar will watch you attempt to negotiate the fast green.
Even if you crunch a 'belter' off the tee you have a huge second shot to the green that is set in the hill with a steep climb at its front. You are advised to take one club more than the distance suggests to allow for this incline. Par this one and shout yourself a drink!
Playing Tip: A controlled draw is the right tee shot for the fifteenth. For the rest of us "mere mortals" watch out for that slice - you could end up in the water. Take one more club to get up the hill as many a ball rolls back off the fast green.

Back at the top of the hill awaits a magnificently picturesque par three. Over looking the beach and ocean beyond, you hit down hill to a rolling green only 130 metres away. The vertical drop is some 15 metres from the back marker and it is great to smash your lofted club skyward watching your ball (hopefully) plop on the green below. Try not to be distracted by the surfers enjoying a swell in the near distance.
This hole is made hard by firstly the wind and secondly by the green that runs diagonally from right bottom to left top, dotted with three bunkers. Putting is a nightmare with more ups and downs than a ski resort so best be near the pin to limit your putting strokes to two. Avoid the bunker on the right - it's as deep as they come!
Playing Tip: Be careful of the wind. Generally take one more club than you think.Try to fly the ball to the same level as the pin. Green very fast from front to back.

Seventeen and eighteen provide two fantastic finishing holes, both long par fours. Seventeen has OOB left most of the way where the bushes and sand dunes lead to the surf. The land falls from the side to the right. If you miss the green right, steep hills will see your ball rocket off to nowhere so err left if anything. Be careful with this large green not to over hit or you'll find you ball OOB!
Playing Tip: Keep your mind off the out of bounds on the left (easier said than done) and go for the middle of the fairway. Take enough club into green to avoid the bunker. Try to keep the ball on the same level as the pin if possible.

|
Par: 4 Length: 368 Stroke: 3/21 Match: 12 |

|
|
The finale has the "water hazard" left immediately from the tee to beyond the 150 metre marker. If you choose the coward's route and keep well right of here, the distance to the green will be increased so a par finish will be made that much harder.
A successful flirt with the water will leave a decent iron to the elevated green, again needing one more club than first thought to make the journey. The green runs heavily back to front so fly the pin for your final grab at glory.
Playing Tip: Magnificent par 4 finish. A greedy drive goes swimming so aim right centre. Second shot take enough club to fly the ball all the way to the pin. The green is very fast front to back. If you don't position your ball it will come rolling back to you. |
